*PHOENIX VALLEY VIEW IS SO BEAUTIFUL WAY UP HIGH ESPECIALLY THE TEMPLE*

Dear Family and Friends,

How is every ones summer going?  Well, I am doing great here in Anthem doing the Lord's work.  This week was a bit slow due it being summer but we had some great lessons.  We had a great lesson with Joni on the Gospel of Jesus Christ teaching her about Faith and how we truly repent by not doing the same sins over.  Then we talked to her about Baptism and how we are baptized to receive a remission of our sins so we can return to live with God.  We invited her to be baptized again and she said she has already been baptized.  We had our Relief Society President, Sister Brandon come with us to meet Joni and she taught a bit on the Restoration to help her understand the Priesthood.  It was such a powerfully spiritual lesson, she has great Faith to follow Christ we just need to help her understand it.  Next lesson we are going to expound on the Restoration by using visual and analogies to help her understand how the true church was restored through Joseph Smith.  We stopped by Micah this week and had a great conversation with him about the church and what he learned in Priesthood class.  He talked about his desire to go on a mission next summer with his friend in our ward who is fellow shipping him.  He understands he has to be a member for a year before he can go on his mission so we are going to help him feel ready for Baptism.  He came to sacrament this Sunday which was really nice because he has not come in months since he got a job.  Elder Beck and I both spoke in sacrament this Sunday.  My topic was on service and it was a great privilege to reflect on my mission in serving the Lord and all the people that I have served or share the Gospel with.  It was so great as I shared a few mission experiences on how I served people which I have seen their hearts soften and made them open to hear the Restored Gospel.  I shared on how Jesus Christ was the Perfect Example by always serving others then Sharing the Gospel.  It has been a true blessing on my mission to Represent the Lord and do his work.  The greatest happiness on my mission has been when I lose myself in the work and help the people I have been called to help receive the Gospel.  This week we also had some member lessons teaching them short lessons.  We are starting to see the fruits working with members, a sister in our ward called us and said her neighbor wanting to learn about the Gospel, so this Sunday we going to meet her and teach her the Gospel.  We have been doing alot of member visits because lots of families are on vacation.  On Saturday,  we tracted into this guy that welcomed us in and teach him about the Gospel.  We taught him about the Restoration and answered his questions on misconceptions that he heard from others about our church.  This morning we had a great zone hike up a hill by the Phoenix Temple, when we got to the top it was so wonderful to see the view of the Phoenix Valley.  We had a spiritual testimony.  I had my 2nd baptism interview with a 21 year old Rebecca.  It is so great to go over the baptism interview questions and hear her testimony about her desire to be baptized.  I had a great District Meeting this week on the Doctrine of Christ and helping my district members to always be living our purpose to invite our investigators to Baptisms and helping them to strive to be baptized by setting Baptism dates.  We need to help all those we meet understand the need to be Baptized and receive the Holy Ghost so they can be on the path back to our Heavenly Father in the Celestial kingdom.  As we are bold and loving the Spirit it will testify to them the truthfulness of our message that our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ lives and provides this wonderful plan to return to live with them and our Families Forever.  I know that this Gospel is true and it helps people Come unto Christ.  The Book of Mormon is the Word of God to teach us the things that will help us Hold on to the Iron Rod to Eternal Life.  Jesus Christ did the greatest Act of Service by fulfilling the Atonement so we can be saved from death and sin to be worthy to live in God's Kingdom.  I love and miss you all.   You are always in my prayers.  Take care and have a great week.

*MAY OUR INVESTIGATORS IN ANTHEM FEEL THE SPIRIT FROM OUR HEAVENLY FATHER & WELCOME ELDER BOGUYONE*

Dear Family and Friends,

How are you guys all doing?  Hope everyone is having a great summer.  I am doing great here in Anthem Sharing the Gospel and helping others Come unto Christ.  This week was a great week for teaching and finding new investigators.  The weather has been hot in the 110s but it cooled down a bit from last week.  We had a great lesson with a new investigator Rick on the Restoration of the Gospel and helping him to understand about prayer and how our Heavenly Father wants to help him.  The spirit was so strong as we invited him to be Baptized on August 10, but we probably will have  to refer him off to other missionaries because he lives out of our area.  We also had a great lesson with Joseph getting to know him and teaching him about how he can know that the Book of Mormon is true.  We had a great short lesson with Joni watching the Restoration video with her and helping her to understand how Joseph Smith was called by God to restore his Gospel on this earth again.  We also met with Jackie and had dinner with her at a members home The Stotts.  Our week was great with lessons, then the remainder of the time we were focusing on working with the members and having short lessons with them.  We had a special Fasting yesterday for Missionary work and our Ward Mission Leader committed everyone in our Priesthood Quorum to invite their friends and neighbors over to to have dinner, play games, or something small to build friendship and soften their hearts.  We had an awesome Zone Meeting on the Culture of our Mission to be Obedient, Teach the Doctrine of Christ, happy, and having fun doing the Lord's work.  We also did reemphasize on our prayer approach that was introduced last May because so many of our missionaries are new to our missions.  We have the biggest zone in our mission right now with 29 missionaries.  Over 80% of our missionaries have been out for less than a year and over 60% have been out for 6 months, a big change with the influx in missionaries.  Elder Boguyone has joined our District and he has been out for 5 months so my District is young besides me.  That was my great week in the mission field.  I love and miss you all.  I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ lives and loves us all.  You are all in my prayers.  Take care and have a great week.

Love,

*WELCOME ARIZONA TEMPE MISSION, FLAGSTAFF & NEW MISSIONARIES MAY WE CONTINUE TO DO THE LORD'S WORK*

Aloha Family and Friends,

How are you all doing?  Hope everyone is having a fun and safe summer.  I am doing great here in Anthem doing the Lord's work.  It was a pretty hot week here in Arizona with record breaking temperatures.  Some days it got up to 117 here in Anthem which feels like being in an oven.  I make sure to drink lots of water and it is great when members are home they let us in for a little while to cool down.  Our week was a bit slow with lessons but we had 2 spiritually filled lessons.  We had a great lesson with Emma on the Word of Wisdom and choosing good friends that will help her Choose the Right (CTR).  I went on my last exchange for the transfer with Elder Okelberry in his area, which is a car area so it was nice to have air condition for the day.  We had a great day visiting members and potential investigators.  We had a great lesson with an investigator Chris on the Plan of Salvation and invited him to be baptized.  He said he would be baptized when he knows more, so we committed him to pray if he should be baptized.  I had a great District meeting on getting our investigators to church and helping them realize the importance of keeping the Sabbath Day holy by coming to church.  We also listened to a talk on the Restoration of the Gospel and how Joseph and Hyrum Smith were killed and how through their courage & acts we have the fullness of the Gospel today.  We have been working a lot with the members teaching them lessons and seeking referrals but not much yet.  We hope the broadcast helped them to do missionary work and we can continue encouraging them to Share the Gospel so we can teach those that the Lord is preparing.  On Saturday, we helped Rome move into his new home in the Daisy Mountain Ward which is in my District.  Then we helped a new family move into their new home.  We had a great Sabbath Day with great talks by a new family in our ward and in the combined 3rd hour our Bishop talked about the Broadcast and committed the members to invite their neighbors, family, and friends into their home for the next 2 months.  It is an exciting and but sad week with the 58 new missions starting yesterday.  We lost 35 missionaries in the Phoenix Stake that got transferred to the Arizona Tempe Mission and we got 18 missionaries with Flagstaff joining our mission.  Elder Lovstedt in my District is getting transferred so we are getting a new missionary in our District on Wednesday.  30 new missionaries are coming this transfer which is the biggest transfer yet with the increase in missionaries.  Well, that was my great week here in the mission field doing the Lord's work.  I testify that our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ lives and loves us ALL.  I testify that this Gospel is true and it was restored through Joseph Smith.  Thomas S. Monson is God's servant that continues to guide his church today so we continue on the straight path back to our Heavenly Father.  I love and miss you all.  Take care and have a great week.

Love,

*MEMBERS & MISSIONARIES TO PARTNER IN HASTENING THE WORK OF SALVATION TO SHARE THE GOSPEL THROUGHOUT THE WORLD*

Dear Family and Friends,

How are you all doing?  I am doing great here in Anthem - Sharing the Gospel and helping others Come unto Christ.  The weather was good this week, it cooled down to the low 100's this week which feels nice compared to 110 degrees.  We had a great lesson this week with Aly and Jackie on the Book of Mormon and how it was translated by Joseph Smith and how they can know that it is true by reading and praying about it.  It was great they invited their neighbors over to learn more about the Gospel.  They had a lot of questions that we answered.  We also had a great lesson with Rome on Trusting in God and how we grow from our trials, we read in Alma 36 with Alma telling his son about his conversion and how as he repented and how all his guilt was swept away and God forgave him.  I had a great exchange this week with Elder Farnsworth in his area we did some member visits and had a lesson with Liz on how we can receive guidance to our questions by asking our Heavenly Father in prayers, what we should do and he will always answer us.  On Thursday, we mostly helped a less active family move to their new home which we did pretty much all day.  I had a great District meeting on the Book of Mormon and how it is the keystone of our religion and how we need to help our investigators gain a testimony of the Book of Mormon.  We had a great Sabbath Day with the awesome Missionary Broadcast by the Prophets and Apostles which can be found on the www.lds.org website - on how we need to adapt to the change in times by using technology to Share the Gospel and help the Lord's work accelerate by using the internet to find and communicate with his people.  Our Misson President Taylor said we will not be able to use the internet to Share the Gospel until Salt Lake authorizes our mission to use it, which I hope will be in the next few months so I can have a taste of how it affects missionary work in helping others Come unto Christ.  There were some great talks and videos on how members have to help us in finding people to teach and inviting them to learn more about the Gospel.  God is Hastening his Work and he needs everyone to fulfill  their duties to Preach his Gospel so his children can enjoy the blessings of the Gospel and return to live with him and their families forever.  That was my great week here in the mission field Sharing his wonderful Gospel to our Heavenly Father's children.  I know that the Gospel is true and it has been restored in its fullness through Joseph Smith and we have a modern day prophet, Thomas S. Monson that continues to guide all of us back to our Heavenly Father.  I am so honored to be part of his growing Army of Missionaries in proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a world that needs it.  I love and miss you all.  Take care and have a great week.

“THE WORK OF SALVATION" MISSIONARY BROADCAST ON SUNDAY, JUNE 23, 2013

Dear Family and Friends,

How are you guys doing?  I am doing great here in Anthem - Sharing the Gospel and helping others Come unto Christ.  It was another hot week here in Arizona - pretty much every house we go to someone offers us water because they know we are thirsty for some cold water which is great in the heat.  It was a great week, but lots of our lessons fell through this week and some investigators are not responding back.  We did have a great dinner and a lesson with a new investigator family.  A member in our ward invited their neighbors to have dinner and they invited us to come.  We had a great dinner conversation then the husband Ally asked us what we do as missionaries then we talked to him about the Gospel.  We shared a short message with them and invited them to learn more and so we got a return appointment with them on Tuesday.  This is a great way to do member missionary work by inviting friends and neighbors over for dinner and sharing a short message then inviting them to learn more about the Gospel and how it can bless their lives.  We did a lot of finding through members, potentials, and former investigators.  I feel like I know this area pretty well because it is a small area and we only cover 1 ward which is a bit easier then covering 2 wards, but we do more tracting sometimes because we do not want to visit the members to frequent.  I had a great exchange with Elder Lovestedt in my area.  We did not have any appointments so we were finding and had dinner with the member that invited their neighbors.  It was a really hot day on Wednesday and we biked a lot.  We helped a less active family move into our apartment complex which was great.  I had a great District Meeting on the importance that our investigators Pray to our Heavenly Father for guidance and answers that they are searching for.  That was my great week here in the mission field doing the Lord's work.  I know that the Gospel is true and the Gospel has been restored through Joseph Smith.  The Book of Mormon is the Word of God and it can change peoples lives and answer many questions that people have.  I testify that our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ lives, loves, and wants us all to return to live in their presence.  Missionary work is the greatest work that we can do to help our  Heavenly Fathers children receive the Gospel and enjoy the happiness on earth and joy in eternity.  I Invite you all to watch the JUNE 23rd BROADCAST on MISSIONARY WORK.  It will be a historic event that will help us all fulfill our missionary duties in helping others Come unto Christ.  I love and miss you all.  You are all in my prayers and that our Heavenly Father will bless you and keep you safe.  Take care and have a great week.

Love Always,

*109 DEGREES IN ANTHEM, ARIZONA BUT LIFE IS STILL WONDERFUL SHARING THE GOSPEL WITH ELDER BECK TAKING THE LEAD*

Dear Family and Friends,

How are you all doing?  How’s everyone’s summer?  I had a great week here in Anthem - Sharing the Gospel and helping our Heavenly Father’s children Come unto Christ. It was a pretty hot week with a few days getting up to 109 degrees which feels like a fan blowing hot air.  Pretty much every house we go to we ask or they offer water to us because we need to stay hydrated. This week was a great week teaching and finding 4 new investigators to teach which we needed because our investigators are not progressing.  We have been going through the potential list of our area book and we first came in contact with John and his mother Joney.  We had a great lesson with them on the Plan of Salvation. We invited them to be baptized but they said they have already been baptized in the Catholic Church so we have to teach them the Restoration to help them understand the Gospel was lost and it has been restored with the Priesthood Authority. We also had a short lesson with 2 new investigators Melissa and her daughter Alexis we just got to know them and started teaching them about the Restoration. We also had a great lesson with Mike on the Restoration and how he can know that the Gospel is restored by reading and praying about the Book of Mormon.  I had a great exchange this week with Elder Ure in my district and we had a great day visiting members and teaching them short lessons.  He is a great missionary that is also training a new missionary Elder Farnsworth.  Training is also going well, trying to help Elder Beck take the lead and feel comfortable in lessons to Follow the Spirit and open his mouth to speak the words that the Lord would say.  12 weeks is really good in helping and especially doing role play to practice.  We had a great Leadership Meeting on teaching the Doctrine of Christ and how to deal with stress and help the missionaries that we have stewardship over through tough times.  We also had teaching on working with sister missionaries and helping them to be involved with activities.  There are 3 sister companionship in our mission that are sister training leaders that are helping the sisters that they have stewardship over and going on exchanges with every transfer.  They are trying to get sisters in every district because they make a great contribution to our district and zones that we can all learn from to help us be better servants of Christ. We had a great Zone Meeting on Friday.  So I had a break from planning District Meeting.  We had some great teachings from our Leadership Meeting on teaching short, powerful lessons and using pamphlets in teaching and always inviting investigators and less active members to an ordinance so they can partake of the Atonement in receiving a remission of our sins.  Last week, I had my first baptism interview with a 13 year old Jazmine.  It was a great spiritual experience to hear her testimony of why she wants to be baptized and the spirit confirming that she is ready to make her covenants with God. A great service experience we had was helping a lady and her kids move out of their apartment that they were getting evicted from.  She was really stressed out but we helped them out and told her that our Heavenly Father can help her as she puts her trust in him he can bless and comfort her.  It is so great to help someone else and help make their burdens lighter.  We had a great Sabbath Day with a return missionary sister that served in Kuresha gave a talk on peace and hearing her experiences of how she helped her investigators recognize peace and feel our Heavenly Fathers love for them.  That was my exciting week here in the mission field doing the Lords work and serving the people here in the Arizona Phoenix Mission.  I know our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ lives and love us all. Through the Atonement of Christ and living the Gospel we can have eternal peace and joy.  The Book of Mormon is the word of God and has the power to change lives.  I love and miss you all. Take care and have a great week.

*SUMMER IS HERE IN ANTHEM & IT IS HOT BUT MY EXCHANGES IN MY DISTRICT WITH OTHER MISSIONARIES HELPS EVERYONE IN ARIZONA*

Dear Family and Friends,

How are you all doing?  How's everyone summer going so far?  Well, I am doing great here in Anthem - Sharing the Gospel.  It is starting to get really hot, Saturday it got up to 106 degrees which feels like a blow dryer all day even the nights it is still warm.  I make sure to drink lots of water so I do not get dehydrated.  This week was a good week a bit slow.  We had a lesson with Rome on the Gospel of Jesus Christ and helping him to understand how through the Atonement and repentance he can be forgiven for his sins.  He is slowly progressing since the first time I met him, just trying to strengthen his Faith especially through hard times.  We found a new investigator this week Mike from going through the potential list in our area book.  He seems interested in learning about Christ and how he can help him in his life.  He likes to talk so we have to figure out how to control the lesson so we can teach him the Gospel.  I had a great exchange with one of the zone leaders Elder Kammissoko from West Africa.  He is a great Elder that gave me some help and advice to fulfill my assignments as District Leader.  Every week, I will be going on exchanges with a missionaries in my district to see how they are doing and give them training to help them be great missionaries.  A big focus for us right now is finding new investigators to teach.  We are working with the members teaching them short lessons and asking them who they know would be interested in the Gospel.  Not too much referrals yet but we know they will come as members do their part in Sharing the Gospel and inviting them to learn about the Restored Gospel.  I had another great district meeting teaching about the importance of getting our investigators to church and helping them be truly converted to activate the Atonement in their lives by partaking of the sacrament to renew their covenants they make at Baptism.  We had a great Sabbath Day with many great testimonies from members.  It was so great to hear a recent convert go up and bear a powerful testimony of the Gospel.  He has been going through some hard times but as he lives the Gospel and feel our Heavenly Father's love for him.  That was my great week in the mission field Sharing our Heavenly Father's wonderful gospel to his children that need to feel his love and how it can help them return to live with him and our families forever.  I know this Gospel is true and it can change peoples lives for the better as they feel the Spirit testify to them that it is true.  I love and miss you all.  Take care and have a great week.  Stay cool.

Love,
Elder Lance Kuhi Cabral
