It is Transfer Time in PHOENIX - ALOHA Smith Family

Hey Family and Friends,

How are you all doing?  I had a wonderful week in Phoenix sharing the Gospel.  We had a spiritually filled baptism on Saturday for Dylan Donohoo.  He was so happy to be spiritually reborn and make his covenants with God.  His mom Sister Williams was full of tears of Joy as she witnessed her son get baptized.  His dad is a not a member so hopefully he felt the spirit and wants to learn more about the Gospel and how it can bless him and his family.  There were some of the youth at his baptism that was there to fellowship and give the talks on baptism and the Holy Ghost.  There were 10 missionaries from our zone that came with about 8 investigators to Dylan's baptism to help their investigators feel the spirit and want to be baptized.  It was great to do the baptism presentation after Dylan got baptized to help address the concerns for the investigators that attended.  Then on Sunday the Spirit was so strong as I confirmed him a member of the church and he received the Holy Ghost.  Dylan stayed for all 3 hours of church and had a great time getting to know the youth in the ward.  The youth is doing a great job of fellow shipping him so he can adjust to his new part of his life and stay active.  We had a great missionary open house at a members home, there was a great amount of investigators, recent converts, and new move ins that were getting to know each other in the ward.  I just got TRANSFER NEWS THIS MORNING - my companion Elder Bartleson and I are both being TRANSFERRED.  I am so sad because we did not get to say bye to our recent converts, investigators, and members that we got to know and love.  That is the hardest part of getting transferred is leaving the people you love and leaving my home area which has been for the past 4 1/2 months.  But I know the Lord needs me someplace else and their is people that are waiting for me to share the Gospel with them and help them come unto Christ.  We are also bummed that we are going to miss Kelsie Goodwins Baptism this weekend.  We loved teaching her the Gospel and preparing her for her Baptism on June 30.  Well that was my fantastic week in the mission field.  I gotta go and pack all my stuff.  Hope all is well for you all.  Take care my prayers are with you all.  I will talk to you next week in my new area with my new companion.

Love you all,

READING THE BOOK of MORMON in PHOENIX

Hey Family and Friends,

How are you guys? Well for me, it was a great week here in Phoenix sharing the Gospel and helping others Come unto Christ.  The weather is starting to really heat up.  This week it got up to 110 degrees.  It is really starting to feel like a blow dryer effect when I am outside riding my bike.  I make sure to fill up my camel back before I leave my apartment.   Well the work is going great.  Dylan is doing great.  We had a lesson this week on reading the Book of Mormon with him.  He likes to play shooting video games so he likes to read the War chapters in the Book of Mormon.  We also taught him tithing, showed him videos of our living prophet today - Thomas S. Monson that leads the church and how by following his teachings we can be happy.  He went to mutual this week and had a great time meeting the youth and doing all the fun activities.  He also had his baptismal interview on Saturday and after it was done he said " I passed I am on level 2".  It is great fun teaching him the gospel and helping his mom come back to church.  He cannot wait to get baptized this Saturday and make his covenants with our Heavenly Father.  Kelsee is also doing great and is ready to be baptized on June 30.  She is autistic so we try to keep it as simple as we can and do fun object lessons to help her remember what we teach her.  This week was a great week for finding and doing our prayer approach.  Friday and Sunday, we did 5 prayers with people, shared a little bit about the Gospel and what we do as missionaries and we got 3 return appointments.  So hopefully they felt the Spirit and are interested in learning more about the gospel and how it can bless them in their lives.  We had a great Sabbath and Father's Day yesterday on how important Father's are in our lives and grateful for all they do.  This week we also focused on going through a list of people that Bishop gave us to visit and see how we can help them come back to church.  It did not go that well but we will keep trying to visit the less actives because sometimes all people need is just a visit and to see that people care about them and miss them to help them get active again in the church.  Our Recent converts are doing really well and we visit with them weekly to help them learn more about the Gospel and help them to endure.  On Friday, a member family took us to L and L Hawaiian Barbecue and I had a lau lau and kalua pork it was so "ono".  Well that was my week in the mission field.  Hope all is well with everyone.  Take care my prayes are with you all.

Love,

*Teaching the Gospel in ARIZONA will Help Change Many Lives*

Aloha Family and Friends,

How is everyone doing? Well, I had a great week in the mission field teaching the Gospel.  This week was busy with lessons.  We had 3 lessons with Kelsee this week on the Plan of Salvation, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and going over the commandments about the Sabbath Day, Law of Tithing, and the Word of Wisdom.  She grew up going to church with her parents so we are just reviewing it with her to help her prepare for her baptism on June 30.  Dylan the 16 year old is also doing great we taught him the Plan of Salvation, Word of Wisdom, and keeping the Sabbath Day.  It was great to see him and his mother come to church yesterday.  His mother has not been to church in over 15 yrs so we were glad to see her support her son and renew her covenents.  Hopefully they felt the spirit and they stay active and see the blessing that come from keeping the Sabbath Day holy by coming to church.  On Wednesday, I was on exchanges for most of the day with Elder Hyer and Elder Wheel Wright because our companions had leadership meetings.  We had a great lesson with eEder Hyers investigator Loise on the Gospel of Jesus Christ and by having Faith in Jesus Christ, Repenting, being Baptized, Receiving the Holy Ghost and Enduring to the end so we can return to live with our Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and our Families Forever in the Celestrial kingdom.  Then we mostly did visits around each others area seeing investigators and members.  We stop by Peter and his two sons Moses and Atum.  My companion and I will be seeing them to set up a lesson and have a short lesson on reading the Book of Mormon.  We have been meeting with them for quite a while now but they cannot come to church because Peter works on Sunday.  Then on Thursday, I was with Elder Wheel Wright again most of the day.  We did a lot of stop by with potential investigators.  We had a great lesson a lesson with Dylan on the Plan of Salvation and focused on the Atonement and how Jesus Christ overcame death for us through his suffering and died for so all us can return to live with God as always try to be obedient, keep the commandments, and do all we can to serve him.  It is good to be on exchanges with different missionaries to see how they teach and how we can learn from each other ways to become better servents of Jesus Christ.  Then on Friday, we had zone meeting with President and Sister Taylor on how we should always strive to have members at every lessons because they have testimonies and experiences that can help the investigator feel the Spirit.  After zone meeting my companion and I went to the Mesa Temple and did an Endowment session.  It was so wonderful to do temple work and feel the strong Spirit being in the House of the Lord.  Saturday, we did our weekly planning and stopped by and saw Sandy and her baby daughter Angel.  Then we had a lesson with George on the the Priesthood.  He is doing great coming back to church to help him get back on the right path.  Sunday was a wonderful Sabbath day, we had a record of 5 investigators Dylan, Loretta, Kelsee, Terri Bostwick a former investigator, and James Hall who is waiting for his probation to be over in July then he can get baptized.  Well that was my wonderful week in the mission field. Hope all is well for everyone.  I love being a missionary and helping other feel the Spirit and see how the Gospel changes their lives.  I love you all and my prayers are with you all.

IT IS STARTING TO GET HOT IN PHOENIX, AZ

Dear Family and Friends,

How are you all doing?  Well for me, I had a great week here in Phoenix.  Summer has definitely started here in Arizona.  It got up to 112 degrees on Friday and it is hot.  It feels like a blow dryer hitting you.   I always make sure I fill up my camelback with water before we go out.  This week we had some great lessons with our investigators and recent converts.  We got a new investigator Kelsee she is 19 yrs old and both her parents are members.  Her father came up to us last Sunday and told us she wanted to get baptized.  We were so excited for her decision to want to get baptized.  She was raised in the church, but her parents gave her the choice to get baptized and she did not feel like she wanted to get baptized until recently.  We had 2 great lessons with her on Friday and Sunday on the Restoration of the church and keeping the Sabbath day.  We also taught Dylan Donohoo on Thursday and changed his baptism date to June 23.  We are trying to focus on Sabbath day with him and his mom to come to church.  His mom has not been to church in years so it is hard for her to come back.  We promised her that she will be happier and enjoy the blessings as she comes to church and renew her covenents she made at bapitsm.  Larreda Reed is also doing great, we had a great lesson with her that our Savior loves us so much that he sacrificed his life so we can be with our Heavenly Father again.  Our recent converts Shelly and Robie are doing great and love coming to church and feeling the spirit.  Sandy Santana gave birth this week, we are going over today to see her new daughter.  We had a great Sabbath day.  The spirit was so strong doing at our fast and testimony.  I love being a missionary and sharing our Heavenly Fathers wonderful plan for us to live with him and our families for eternity.  Gotta go love you all.  Take care, my prayers are with you all.

Love,
Elder Lance Kuhi Cabral
