*MEMORIAL DAY 2013 & WELCOME ELDER BECK & ANTHEM DISTRICT MAY WE ALL STRIVE TO DO OUR "BEST"

Dear Family and Friends,

How are you all doing? How was your Memorial Day weekend?  I am doing great here in Anthem - Sharing the Gospel and helping others Come unto Christ.  The weather is still not so bad yet high 90s & low 100s.  It was a busy week starting with Great transfers with 23 new missionaries, 12 elders and 11 sisters.  My new companion is Elder Beck from Salt Lake City, Utah.  He is a great elder excited to be on his mission serving the Lord.  It was exciting seeing the different transfers and assignments being made, but a bit sad because anyone who got transferred to the Phoenix and Phoenix South Zones will be leaving our mission in July to the Arizona Tempe Mission.  36 great missionaries including many that I know and they will truly be missed.  So I will be in Anthem for the next 11 weeks at least because of the 12 week infield training of new missionaries, which I enjoy training and passing on what I have learned on my mission to a new missionary so he can be successful, plus we have 2 hours of companionship study which is really nice for planning for our investigators, studying preach my gospel, and role playing to receive revelation that will help our investigators.  My 1st District meeting as a District leader was great, we discussed our investigators and how we can help them progress, then I taught on teaching our investigators about the Book of Mormon and how to help investigators know that the Gospel has been restored by reading and praying about the Book of Mormon.  It is truly amazing that the Lord guides me to fulfill my assignment as District leader and trainer.  Being a District leader is a big responsibility but a great assignment to serve, love and help my district members do well.  On Sunday, I had to go to a Stake coordination meeting and discuss how the Stake can help the work.  On Sunday, I have to get our key indicator and report them to the zone leaders.  My District is pretty young except me, Elder Beck is new, then there is Elder Farnsworth who is also new and Elder Ure 5 months, Elder Okelberry 2 months and Elder Lovestedt 6 months.  This is a great District that is excited, obedient, and diligent.  I had a great leadership meeting on Friday from 9-4 with Tracy Watson who is in charge of proselyting in missionary work over the Church.  Exciting things that they are doing to help the work move forward.  They started off announcing that in the future missionaries will have iphones and ipads to use as digital planners, area books, show videos, mormon.org, facebook to keep in contact with investigators and get new investigators, and many more great things that will help the work.  They are doing some trial runs in some missions including a district in our mission with the iphones and ipads that was exciting to hear how it helps them be more effiecient.  We also had great teaching from Brother Donaldson, a former Mission President from the district videos that we watch regularly, he gave some great teaching on repentence and helping us to live our purpose.  It was a spiritual, packed day with great teachings that we as leaders will help our missionaries be succesful.  Not much teaching investigators this week but I hope we can have some this week to help Elder Beck get some teaching experience and find some new investigators that are prepared to receive the gospel.  We do not have anyone really progressing right now so a bit of a struggle.  We have been working with members teaching them and seeking referrals but nothing yet, but they will come as we work hard.  Well that was my great week.  Hope everyone is doing well.  I love and miss you all.  Take Care and have a fantastic week.

Love,

*WELCOME ALL NEW MISSIONARIES & CONGRATULATIONS LANCE AS A DISTRICT LEADER IN ANTHEM, AZ*

Dear Family and Friends,

How are you all doing?  I am doing great here in Anthem - Sharing the Gospel and doing the Lord's work.  I had a great week but also a bit challenging and overwhelmed.  We had a great Zone conference on working more with members by serving and teaching them the Doctrine of Christ to help build their trust to Share the Gospel with those they know and find people for us to teach.  We also had great learning exercises on planning more effectively and using our missionary planner to its fullest; and we had a great teaching lesson by President and Sister Taylor on Repentence and helping us and our investigators to truly repent and forsake their sins so they can enjoy the blessing that come from keeping God's commandments.  We had only 1 lesson this week with Emma on Agency and keeping the Law of Chasity.  She is 17 and has been investigating the church for 2 years but cannot get baptized because her parents will not allow her to until she is 18.  She will make a great Mormon in a year and she is planning to go on a mission when she is 19.  We had 4 lessons scheduled with investigators but they fell through for various reasons.  Some investigators we have not been able to have a lesson with for weeks, so we are going to see if they truly want to learn more about the Gospel.  We did alot of finding through members and are starting to teach them short 20 minute lessons to apply the things we learned from zone conference and help them Share the Gospel and gain trust in us as Servants of Christ.  Well the anxious part of the week was first when I got a call from President Taylor on Saturday to TRAIN A NEW MISSIONARY AGAIN.  I was not that nervous because I have done it before and it is not so bad.  Then this morning I got another call from President Taylor asking me TO BE A DISTRICT LEADER.  These are 2 big assignments that the Lord and Mission President Taylor has trust and confidence that I can do.  I have to be a role model in Obedience and example to my new trainee and district which there are 6 Elders in my District and 2 will be new missionaries tomorrow.  I hope I can have the Lordss guidance and spirit to help me fullfill these assignments.  I have to plan and conduct district meetings, go on exchanges with everyone in my district and zone leaders every transfer, take call in summaries of the week and report them to the zone leaders every Sunday, do baptism interviews, and help out the Elders in my district the best way I can.  So there is lots of pressure on me but I know that the Lord knows I am ready to do it.  I went to a training meeting yesterday and so one of the sisters that came out with me is going home today along with 3 other sister missionaries who finished their mission.  There are 23 new missionaries coming into our mission tomorrow and 9 of them are sister missionariess.  Alot more sister missionaries are coming on missions since the announcement of age change.  I am so priveledged to be on a mission in these exciting time when the Lord needs every worthy young man and young women to preach his Gospel.  I know that this Gospel is true and by living it we can be blessed.  I love and miss you all.  Take care and have a great week.

*HAPPY BELATED MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL MOTHER'S FROM ANTHEM, ARIZONA-THESE GIFTS ARE FOR YOU, MOM*

Dear family and friends,

How are you guys?  How was your Mother's Day?  I had a great week here in Anthem - Sharing the Gospel and doing the Lord's work.   It was still pretty warm this week but starting to get hotter like in the 100's.  We had 2 great lessons with Te Te this week on the Plan of Salvation and the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  It was great to teach her about our Heavenly Father's plan and when we live his gospel we can return to live with him and our Families Forever in his Kingdom.  We had to teach her very simply because she is from France and English is her second language.  She was here visiting some family who are members, but she is going back to France this week.  It was a great privilege to teach her and hope she continues to learn more about the Gospel and how it can bless her.  We invited her to be baptized but she did not feel ready, so we told her to continue to meet with the missionaries, we bore our testimony and invited her to read and pray to know if his Gospel has been restored.  She felt the spirit and is truly prepared to receive the Gospel.  We also had a great lesson with Rome on Elder Holland's talk from this past general conference and taught him about strengthening his Faith and continue to trust in the Lord through trials and he will give you guidance and make you stronger.  We had a great Mother's Day with great talks on the roles of Mother's and how their Mother's helped them.  We taught the CTR 6 class so the primary teachers could go to Relief Society for a special Mother's day program.  It was great but they were a handful it was a task to keep them focus.  It was great to talk to my mom, my dad, and my sister Nikki on my mission experiences for the last time.  We are doing a lot of finding through members, potential investigators, street contacting, and tracting.  It is a bit of a trial trying to find people to teach but I know that the Lord is pleased in our diligence as we are fulfilling our purpose to invite others to Come unto Christ.  That was my great week in the mission field.  Hope everyone is doing well.  I love and miss you all.  I know that the gospel is true and through living the Gospel of Jesus Christ we can be blessed for Eternity.  Take care and have a great week.

*TYLER - LET'S STRIVE TO BE A MISSIONARY THRU MEMBERS, TRACTING & INVESTIGATORS*

Dear Family and Friends,

How are you guys all doing?  Well, I had another great week here in Anthem doing the Lord's work.  The weather this week has still been pretty good, some days got a little hot.  This week was another a slow week with 2 lessons.  We had a great lesson with Te Te on the Restoration of the Gospel and helping her to know that the Gospel has been restored through Joseph Smith by reading and praying about the Book of Mormon and the Holy Ghost will tell her the truth.  We took a Priest age young man name Tyler that is preparing to go on his mission this summer and he enjoyed teaching and testifying about the Gospel to prepare him.  We also had a great lesson with Rome on the Gospel of Jesus Christ, he does not want to commit to be baptized because he does not feel like he has a strong Faith in Christ.  So we are going to help him.  We had a great zone meeting on keeping our area books updated to show the Lord that we love and care about this part of the Vineyard he has given us to teach his Gospel.  It is so important to keep our records updated for future missionaries especially if both missionaries are new to the area like I was in one ward in Buckeye.  We also had great teaching and practicing on repentence and helping our investigators that have truly repented and are changing and are ready to make their covenants that they made at baptism.  We did a lot of finding this week through members, tracting visiting potential and former investigators.  We got a few referrals from members but no new investigators yet.  That was my great week here in the mission field.  Hope all is well.  I love and miss you all.  I know that our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ lives and loves you.  That through our Heavenly Father's plan Families can be Together Forever.  The Gospel has been restored and the fullness is on the earth.

*BY SMALL & SIMPLE THINGS GREAT THINGS COME TO PASS IN ANTHEM*

Dear Family and Friends,

How are you guys all doing?  I am doing great here in Anthem - doing the Lord's work and helping others to feel the spirit and have a desire to Come unto Christ.  It is starting to get hot here in Arizona.   It is in the mid 90's and the dry blower effect is starting.  I make sure I fill up my camelback everytime we go out so I stay hydrated.  This week was another slow week teaching with lots of our investigators being busy.  We have a pretty good teaching pool but they are not really progressing like coming to church or meeting with us.  We are going to try to keep in contact with them and if they do not prioritize to meet with us we will give them a break for a period of time.  I know that the Lord is preparing people that are ready to receive his Gospel and he will guide us to them when the time is right.  We had a great lesson with TeTe on the restoration and answering her questions that she had about our beliefs.  She had some really good questions like why do we say that we are the true church and why the Gospel was lost through the Apostasy.  It was a great spiritual lesson to testify to her about Christ's church that he established and how it was restored through Joseph Smith and how we can know if it is true by reading and praying about the Book of Mormon and how the Holy Ghost will testify to her the truth.  Besides that we did a lot of finding people through members having prayers with them and asking who they know that would be interested in the Gospel.  We received a few referrals that we contacted but no one that is interested yet.  If members do not have any one that they can share the Gospel with we commit them to pray and the Lord will guide them to someone they know who they can help Come unto Christ.  By small and simple things great things come to pass.  A simple invite to learn about the Gospel or inviting someone over for dinner goes a long way in preparing people to eventually receive the Gospel.  On Saturday, we helped a less active family move to their new home pretty much the whole day.  It was great to do service for them and hope they come back to church.  That was my great week here in the mission field Sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ so they can know how the Gospel can bless their lives and return to live with God and our Families Forever.  I love and miss you all.  Take care and have a great week.

*WHAT A BEAUTIFUL DAY FOR A HIKE UP DAISY MOUNTAIN?*

Dear Family and Friends,

How are you guys doing?  I am doing great here in Arizona - Sharing the Gospel and helping others Come unto Christ.  The weather here in Anthem has still been really nice and warm, but it is starting to heat up.  I had a pretty good week with Zone interviews and 2 spiritually, wonderful lessons with our investigators.  Zone interviews were great as we meet with President Taylor and have our quarterly interview with him and hear his counsel on how we can be more powerful Servants of Christ?  We had a great training by our zone leaders on the importance of helping our investigators understand why we commit them to do things to help strengthen their Faith and show our Heavenly Father that they love him.  Then we had training from Sister Taylor on planning effectively to make the best use of our time even on Pdays so we can get everything done so we can be ready for the next week of doing the Lord's work.  She also talked about the different ways we can find the ELECT children in our areas that are prepared to receive the Gospel.  The great thing that we always love about zone interviews is Sister Taylor's games which is on "cleaning" that has been a big focus these past months is keeping our residence clean so the spirit can be with us always.  We had a great lesson this week with Alex and James on the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  The spirit was so strong to see her feel the spirit as we talked about receiving the Holy Ghost as our constant companion after we are baptized.  The spirit is one of the greatest gifts we can receive in this life that can help us and comfort us through this journey of returning to live with God and our Families Forever.  She has a Baptism date for May 25.  But she has not been coming to church and she is living with her boyfriend.  We also had a wonderful lesson with Rome on the Atonement and how Jesus Christ knows all of our trials that we go through and how living his Gospel can  bless us and heal us from those pains.  There were some contention between him and his wife.  It was great to see how the spirit can change their moods.  We invited and committed them to pray as a family everyday for our Heavenly Fathers guidance to help strengthen them as a family because we cannot give counsel on personal matters.  We invited Rome to say the closing prayer and he said a spiritually, powerful prayer.  It is so wonderful to see how the spirit can truly change hearts as we feel it.  We had a lot of lessons that fell through so we were doing a lot of finding people to teach.  We found a few potential investigators that we are going back to visit this week.  That was my great week here in the mission field.  I know that this Gospel is true and that Christ's church has been restored through Joseph Smith.  By reading the Word of God and praying to our Heavenly Father he will answer us.  I am so grateful for this opportunity that I have to represent Jesus Christ and do his marvelous work.  The field is white ready to harvest, there is our family, friends, and people we know that are ready to receive the Gospel.  We have to share it with them so they can have the joy and happiness that comes from the Gospel.  I love and  miss you guys all.  Take care and have a great week.

Love,

*WELCOME ELDER BRYANT, ANTHEM CITY HERE WE ARE, & IT IS BIKE TIME AGAIN*

Dear Family and Friends,

How are you guys doing?  I am doing great here in Arizona - Sharing the Gospel and doing the Lord's work.  Well, I got transferred to Anthem on Wednesday and my new companion is Elder Bryant from Apple Valley, California.  He has been out for 3 months and is excited to be on his mission.  He is 18 - so President Monson's announcement effected him.  We cover the Gavilin Peak Ward - here in Anthem.  I live in a nice Apartment complex right off the I-17 Highway called Bella Rosa Apartments.  Anthem is a nice area that is 30 minutes - North of Phoenix that was built in 2001 so it is a pretty new community.  It is a pretty big city of its own with lots of residential and commercial buildings.  My area is pretty small so I am back to being on bike which I love street contacting people and getting exercise.  I do miss the quickness of a car and will miss the AC in a month.  The weather up here is still really nice in the 80's.  I had a great week starting with transfers, seeing 20 new missionaries coming into our mission and hear their testimonies of their excitement to be on their missions.  We had a wonderful Baptism on Saturday for Lynn with her strong spirit as she was baptized by her friend that introduced her to the church.  Great support from the ward and a few investigators from other missionaries.  I had a great Sabbath day meeting with the members and investigators.  Elder Bryant got to do his 1st confirmation which was also a strong spirit to see her as she became a member of the church and receive the Holy Ghost.  We had a great ward activity at a really nice park getting to know ward members and doing some fun activities such as water balloons and 3 legged race.  That was my great week sharing the Gospel.  I love and miss you all.  You are all in my prayers.  I know that this Gospel is true and it has been restored to bless our lives so we can return to live with our Heavenly Father.

Love,
Elder Lance Kuhi Cabral
